Jericho TV Show Saved by Fans

Posted in Television, News on June 14th, 2007. By Maren Hermans.

We heard about fans writing own episodes of their favorite shows and putting them online. Also, we read that shows give secret hints to viewers to interact with them. But now the connection between show and fan has reached another dimension. What sounds like a dream for every ‘Friends’ or ‘A-Team’ fan, became reality: it took many emails and many nuts to bring the cancelled TV Show ‘Jericho’ back on TV, but fans made it happen (Via Watching TV Online).

Surprised by so much enthusiasm, CBS entertainment director Nina Tassler sees a chance for some work shifting and asks fans to ‘recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.’ while at the same time demanding them not to skip ads (Via Digg).

Inspired by this request, Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan publishes a ‘TV viewer’s Bill of Rights’ (Via Watching TV Online), asking for a better treatment of fans and their favorite shows with the promise: ‘we’ll do our best to show up’.
