1 Apple plots a DVD player for the broadband era
As explained by Om Malik, Apple’s strategy for Internet Video is based on Apple TV and the iTunes model that has worked so well for their music business. By introducing movie rentals Apple is following their typical strategy
“…it lets the market reach a point of confusion, and then starts offering a service that emphasizes ease of use and elegant out of the box experience.”
So as Apple’s iPod is the current standard MP3 player, should everything work as planned by Apple, Apple TV will become the “DVD player” for the broadband era.
